Kaprovitá ryba hořavka duhová (Rhodeus sericeus) z Evropy a Dálného východu má nepříliš obvyklou formu péče o potomstvo. Vajíčka a embrya hořavek se vyvíjejí v žaberních dutinách živých mlžů, v ČR druhů z čeledi velevrubovitých (Unionidae). Toto soužití není symbiotické, ale spíše parazitické.

The European Bitterling (Rhodeus sericeus), a cyprinid fish from Europe and the Far East, rears its young in a rather unusual way. The eggs and embryos of the fish develop in mantle cavities of living mussels and clams. In the Czech Republic, it prefers unionid bivalves (Unionidae). This coexistence is not a symbiosis, but rather a parasite-host relationship.
