Damage is caused to cultural fruit trees in orchards and gardens by some insect species under the bark and directly in the wood. The Cherry Bark Tortrix (Enarmonia formosana) larvae penetrate apricot-trees, cherry-trees, and other fruit trees. Population control by pheromone traps is possible but rather difficult, because the species has no distinct life cycle within the season. Similar patterns can be found in the Apple Clearwing (Synanthedon myopaeformis) and Currant Clearwing (S. tipuliformis), which can also be controlled by baited pheromone traps.
