Zaznamenali nižší abundance společenstev a změny dominance druhů. Rychlost zotavení závisí na schopnosti disperze - u střevlíků 2 roky a u stejnonožců 4-6 let.

Floods are an important factor for soil invertebrate communities in floodplains which have adapted to regular spring floods in Central Europe. Irregular summer floods (warmer water, low oxygen level) affect these assemblages. After the catastrophic floods in July 1997 the authors studied ground beetles (Carabidae) and terrestrial woodlice (Oniscidea) in a floodplain forest in the Litovelské Pomoraví (Central Moravia) in 1998-2005. They found lower numbers in the animal communities studied, as well as changes in species dominance. The recovery rate in the animal communities under study depends on dispersal ability and takes two years in ground beetles and four to six years in woodlice.
