Invazní terestrická ploštěnka novozélandská (Arthurdendyus triangulatus) byla v Evropě poprvé nalezena v roce 1963 v severoirském Belfastu a stále se šíří. Její výskyt se pojí s výrazným poklesem početnosti žížal, hlavně hlubinných (anektických) druhů, mj. i u nás široce rozšířené žížaly obecné (Lumbricus terrestris). Do Evropy se už dostalo s rostlinami a zahradnickou zeminou z jiných kontinentů několik dalších druhů a rodů terestrických ploštěnek, např. poněkud neobvykle vypadající ploštěnka skleníková (Bipalium kewense) z Asie.

The invasive land planarian New Zealand Flatworm (Arthurdendyus triangulatus) was first found in Europe in 1963, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and it has been spreading ever since. Its occurrence is related to a sharp decline in earthworms, particularly anecic ones, i.a. in the Czech Republic the widely distributed Common Earthworm (Lumbricus terrestris). Some other land planarian species and genera have also been introduced to Europe with plants and soils for gardening.
