V článku je krátce popsán dopad výbuchu na přírodu a hlavně vegetaci a je charakterizována spontánní sukcese vegetace, která poté následovala. Zdůrazněny jsou rozdíly mezi primární a sekundární sukcesí a zmíněny jsou hlavní mechanismy a faktory, které sukcesi ovlivňují. Článek vychází z terénní zkušenosti autora s lokalitou a z výsledků dlouhodobého výzkumu sukcese vedeného americkými ekology.

The impact of the eruption of this volcano on vegetation and the following spontaneous succession are briefly described, based on the author's field experience and the results of the long-term research conducted by American ecologists. The paper points out the differences between primary and secondary successions. Some me­chanisms and factors driving the succession are also mentioned.
