Znalost genetické diverzity populací je klíčovým předpokladem k jejich efektivní ochraně. V rámci naší studie jsme ukázali, že populace kriticky ohroženého druhu hořečku mnohotvarého českého (Gentianella praecox subsp. bohemica) dosud hostí vysokou genetickou diverzitu. Díky semenné bance totiž dokáže překonávat i dočasné propady početnosti v populacích.

Knowledge of the genetic diversity of po­pulations is a crucial prerequisite for their effective conservation. We have demonstra­ted that populations of critically endange­red Gentianella praecox subsp. bohemica still host high genetic diversity. This is be­cause it can overcome temporary declines in population size thanks to its seedbank.
