Large blues (Phengaris) are some of the most endangered butterflies. They are intensively studied in many European countries due to their conservation and striking life cycle. Caterpillars are social parasites inside nests of ants of the genus Myrmica. In this paper, new findings on their evolution, biology and conservation are presented.
