This article deals with the Kitti's Hog-nosed Bat (Craseonycteris thonglongyai), which is regarded as the smallest mammal in the world. It describes the systematic position of the species, its current distribution and natural history. Extra attention is paid to its echolocation and the relationship with small size of the bat with the emphasis on the limitations and advantages this characteristics brings to the species. The reasons for different echolocation frequencies in part of the distribution area of C. thonglongyai are also described. Different types of human pressure are detailed with both direct and indirect environmental factors mentioned.
