Recently the last Czech population of the Scarce Fritillary (Euphydryas maturna) in Central Bohemia has faced extinction, however, management interventions have been performed since 2010 at the site to support the butterflies. Thanks to these habitat changes, their abundance has been increasing during the last few years. Even though their abundance is still not very high, it might nowadays be considered stable. This paper provides information about the ecological characteristics of this butterfly species and its current state in the Czech republic.
