This paper focuses on a remarkable example of natural phenomena – the trees in the Lava Tree State Monument, a public park in the eastern part of Hawaii. The preserved lava moulds of tree trunks, formed when a lava flow swept through the forested region in 1790, during the eruption of the Kilauea volcano. Interestingly, during the last volcanic eruption (2018), the lava flow also came considerably close to this area.
