Salangany (čeleď rorýsovití - Apodiformes) žijí převážně v jižní a jihovýchodní Asii.

Swiftlets are swifts (Apodiformes) living mainly in South and South-East Asia. These interesting birds can use echolocation for their orientation in space. At present, scientists use echolocation patterns together with current molecular biology methods to study the phylogenesis of the above birds. Swiftlets have been highly threatened by the increasing trade in their edible nests, known as swallow nests, popular as a delicacy in Chinese cuisine as well as a pharmaceutical resource in traditional Chinese medicine. The nests constructed exclusively from saliva are particularly valued by the multi-million-dollar bird´s-nest business.
