Amphibians display various mechanisms for defending against predators. Immobility (a natural state of motionlessness that the animal enters when presented with a threat, showing the back with mucous and poison glands) is a remarkable, but less well-known anti-predatory behaviour that is missing from the literature. The authors present the behaviour with non-typical examples in the Common Frog (Rana temporaria), which usually avoids predation by escaping with rapid jumps.
