This contribution aims at starting a discussion on how palaeontological data can be used for testing various evolutionary theories (e.g., that of frozen evolution). The study of lamp shells or brachiopods (the phylum Brachiopoda) belonging to the genus Aegiromena from an Upper Ordovician sequence in the Prague Basin is an example of such an approach.
