Most bees occurring in the Czech Republic are solitary. Moreover, a detailed study of Hairy-footed Flower Bee (Anthrophora plumipes) behaviour revealed some remarkable findings not only regarding ethology, but also evolutionary biology. The bees build their nests, but they often visit the nests of other species which they frequently occupy – this is a process involving interspecific nest kleptoparasitism.
