Od roku 2015 studují autoři epifytické mechorosty v Číně. Navštívili 16 čínských provincií a prostudovali herbářový materiál nejvýznamnějších sbírek v této zemi. Výsledkem je mimo jiné check-list čítající 52 taxonů šurpkovitých mechů. K nejzajímavějším nalezeným druhům patří zejména Orthotrichum scanicum, O. rogeri, O. moravicum nebo O. pamiricum.
