Dinosauři představují mimořádně rozmanitou a úspěšnou skupinu obratlovců. Článek je věnován původu a evoluci některých z jejich nejpozoruhodnějších znaků – od zakrslých předních končetin největších masožravců přes extrémní krční páteř sauropodů, mohutné pancíře a ocasní kyje ankylosaurů a fascinující lebeční límce ceratopsů až po unikátní tělní integument a původ peří.

Dinosaurs are an exceptionally diverse and successful group of vertebrates. This article explores the origins and evolution of some of their most remarkable characters – from the diminutive forelimbs of the largest carnivores and the extreme necks of sauropods, through the massive armour and tail clubs of ankylosaurs and the fascinating cranial frills of ceratopsians, to the unique body integument and the origin of feathers.
