Dálkové migrace hmyzu jsou fascinujícím fenoménem, který v posledních letech nabývá na popularitě. Cílem tohoto článku je ukázat na opomíjenou migraci pestřenek. V článku čtenář nalezne seznámení s pestřenkami, jejich diverzitou, nejvýznamnějšími migrujícími druhy a rešerši jejich vlivu na ekosystémy, evoluci, nebo třeba distribuci pylu. V neposlední řadě přinášíme i shrnutí a novinky z výzkumu migrace pestřenek v České republice.

Long-distance migrations of insects are a fascinating phenomenon that has grown in popularity in recent years. This article aims to highlight the often-overlooked migration of hoverflies. The reader will find an introduction to hoverflies' natural history, their diversity, the most common migrating hoverflies, and a review of their impact on ecosystems, evolution and pollen distribution. Additionally, we provide a summary and the latest updates on hoverfly migration research in the Czech Republic.
