V článku shrnujeme vlastní poznatky o sociálním chování samců kajmanů yakaré (Caiman yacare) v oblasti Nhecolândia v brazilském Pantanalu. Pozornost věnujeme především vizuálním a akustickým signálům, jež samci používají při demonstraci své přítomnosti, obhajobě teritoria a přivolávání samic. Předkládáme také podrobný popis souboje dvou srovnatelně silných samců o vhodné teritorium.

This article summarises our own findings on the social behaviour of male Yacare Caimans (Caiman yacare) in the Nhecolândia region of the Brazilian Pantanal. We pay particular attention to the visual and acoustic signals used to demonstrate the presence at an occupied site, defend territory, and attract females. We also describe in detail the fight between two comparably strong males for a suitable territory.
