V současné době ve světě přibývá přes tisíc titulů o sukcesi ročně, většina z nich ale nepopisuje delší sukcesní řady, zkoumá jen nějaké dílčí aspekty. V článku je nejprve ukázáno několik příkladů, které měl autor příležitost studovat, nebo alespoň detailněji vidět. Poté jsou uvedeny některé výstupy celosvětových metaanalýz, které se začínají objevovat v posledních letech s nárůstem poznatků a rozvojem databází a statistických programů.

Currently, over a thousand titles on succession are published annually in the world, but most of them do not describe longer succession series, but only examine some partial aspects. First, several examples are shown that the author had the opportunity to study, or at least see in more detail. Then some outputs of global meta-analyses are presented, which have begun to appear in recent years with the increase in knowledge and the development of databases and statistical programmes.
